DJ MEAT INTERVIEW WITH STH

STH. Please tell us your name and how you came about having this name.
My name is DJ Meat, it originated from my mentor, because of my stature as a big dude
STH. How long have you been DJing?
I’ve been DJing since I was 12 years old. I decided to make it a profession about 7 years ago.
STH. What are your goals as a DJ in this competitive industry?
My goal is to become a household name like DJ Quik, Jazzy Jeff, Irie, Khaled, etc. I want to open up that door for more DJ’s that are to come after me. I want to be a DJ that’s born and raised in Miami and doing it big.
STH. Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?
I see myself as a more established brand, on P1 radio, and as an ambassador for upcoming artists. I want to be somewhat of a gateway for those wanting to move their music craft to the next level.
STH. What squad do you represent if any and how did that happen?
I represent Street Connect DJs, of which I am CEO/Co-Founder. I also represent Core DJs- Streetz and Don Logan DJs.
STH. Do you feel that your hustle is being supported? Why or why not?
I feel my hustle is being supported somewhat but ppl wont respect it and acknowledge it until you make them. And that’s what I am doing. You can’t mention the top DJ’s in my city and NOT mention DJ Meat. I think by being humble and kind helps expand my efforts but trust me, the streets, clubs, the fans know I’m the biggest DJ in Miami. You can ask anybody about DJ Meat, Street Connect DJ’s or Stamped N Da Streetz, the buzz is there. So eventually the ones who don’t support will come around with time.
STH. For the people that have never met you, how would you describe yourself?
I’m a very chill person; I keep to myself for the most part. I’m never a negative person. I try to help as much as I can.
STH. What are you working on? Who are you working with? Any Upcoming events to look forward to?
Right now I’m working on Stamped N’ Da Streetz Vol. 5 & 6. I just finished a tape with Klass Money. My boy DJ Lucky C blessed that tape with something nice! I’m willing to work with just about anybody. As long as you’re about your business, I’m with it. I hate to waste time so if you on what I’m on, we can work. Look out for The 2012 Best in Florida Awards coming in October. Formerly known as the Best in Dade Awards. It was time to expand our brand and share it with the entire state.
STH. How can we contact you in order to book you?
djmeatbooking@gmail.com , you can contact me via twitter/djmeat I stay on there lol. Streetconnectdjs.com, and my personal site DJMEAT.com where you can stay up to date with my latest parties, mix tapes, events, etc.
STH. Any shout outs?
I want to thank God for all blessings and lessons, all ups and downs. That’s who got me to where I am now. My heart, my little girl, is the reason I grind and work as hard as I do. She’s my motivation to get up and get at it. Shout out to my family & friends, my Street Connect brothers & sisters, my Core & Don Logan family. Every single person who ever gave me advice, gave me hope, believed in me even when I didn’t, even those who doubted me daily, I’m blessed either way. I want to thank and s/o supportthehustle.com, they truly support my movement and everything my company and I put out! Thank you
